Document Summary

The result of the news media we come up with in journalism, as a result of the pressures, this shapes how people learn about the world. The media can show us things or places we have never been to, such as places out of sight and out of mind. The media are our windows to the world beyond out direct experience. This also means that because we are consuming a lot of media that we are shaped by a pseudo- environment that is constructed by media through all these negotiations on individual ideas, organizational pressures, and cultural forces. It also means that our knowledge is also socially constructed. If people were to explain certain things differently, you may understand the world differently or create some kind of different knowledge or misinformation. This is important because if an event is rejected by the media you use, it won"t be a part of your perception of social reality.
