Our world is shaped by technology and moves forward by information. Technological devices, like phones, video/audio recording devices, computers, and the internet, have revolutionized our ability to obtain information about the world and better communicate with others. The government collects multiple amounts of personal information in records, like: Entities in the private sector also obtain personal information in large databases for marketing purposes or so they can prepare credit history of someone. We leave behind a trail of data wherever we go and with whatever we do. There are new challenges for protecting someone"s privacy as new technology emerges and more people use information that is personal for businesses and government purposes. Information privacy is the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information. This is often put up against decisional privacy, which is about someone"s freedom to make decisions regarding one"s body and family.
