There is a need for data scientists in the upcoming years because there are currently not enough data scientists to fill all the available decisions. This is only going to get worse in the upcoming years which means opportunities for us to find jobs in this area if we want to pursue it! These numbers change depending on the company or consulting agency you are talking to. There are a few hundred thousand positions unfilled in the upcoming years. Data economy is exploding (all industries, jobs, all regions) There is a lack of applicants, training, and not a lot of investment in trying to get people trained in analytics. A survey among businesses in north carolina and one thing that gets you employed is web analytics. One way to improve data science everywhere is creating more education opportunities on the college level.
