Communication as a discipline emerged from scholars in many disciplines such as rhetoric, sociology, journalism, psychology, literary criticism, education, engineering, and math. It is a relatively young subject in academia, which might seem weird. As a research subject, it wasn"t until world war ii some european cultural scientist discovered this as a field with it"s own theories and frameworks and methods happened. Scientists from all these areas came with their research evolved and became more specialized in communication. These people were primarily focused on communication research. Something we will notice in communication theories is how they are all connected. Whether you are a political scientist or applied psychologist, a lot of what you are looking at is communication. A lot of things around us is familiar with communication and a lot of explanations can come from these theories. Communications scholars also adopt theories from other theories and vice versa.
