Versus weather other places in the usa. Easy to calculate, but don"t tell us a lot. Variability refers to how things differ from one another. A measure of how much different scores are from one another in a distribution of scores. It examines how much different scores are from one particular score. A measure of how much each score in a group of scores differs from one another in some fashion. We know how to calculate different statistics related to measuring central tendency. Combine this with a statistic measuring variability. And we have two very important descriptive statistics. Central tendency and variability statistics can be used together to describe important characteristics of a distribution. This information can demonstrate how different distributions can differ from one another. Test scores in different sections of a class. Iq scores of general population versus college students. Sometimes referred to or reported as the highest and lowest number in a distribution.
