Generates light by heating up a filament with electric current. The higher the watts the bigger the lamp. Generates light by activating a gas-filled tube to give off ultraviolet radiation. Radiation lights up the phosphorus coating inside the tube: led. Specific phosphors inside the leds that make the light white. Spotlights: well-defined light, can be adjusted with high or low beams, fresnel. Cookie: cucoloris, pattern held by beam-shaping shutters. Floodlights: designed to produce great amounts of highly diffused light, keeps shadows to a minimum, 5 types. Scrim: a spun-glass material held in a metal frame. Portable floodlights: v-light, soft-box, chinese lantern, portable fluorescent bank, led panel. Diffusing portable spotlights: bouncing the light, attaching a scrim, using a diffusion umbrella, attaching a soft-box. Mounting devices: pipe grid + counterweight batten, c-clamp, sliding rod and pantograph, floor stands. Incandescent + fluorescent dimming: led dimming, patching. Connects each lighting instrument to a specific dimmer.
