Example: ideas of white, cold, and round are understood by learning about the snowball. What are primary and secondary qualities? (chapter viii, paragraphs 7-18) Primary qualities the qualities that remain the same no matter how many times you divide an object. Responsible for certain sensations/ simple ideas in our mind. Examples: colors, sounds, tastes, smells (5 senses) Object would stop existing if these qualities did not exist. 3-dimensions about the object help you bring the idea of extension in to the mind. Primary qualities are responsible for our ideas of the primary qualities and ideas of the secondary qualities. Nothing in the object but the primary qualities!!!!!!! Primary qualities responsible for ideas of primary and secondary qualities. Example: piece of steel that cuts flesh.
