Speech number one: speech to inform the audience about a communication breakdown (failed communication) you can be involved in the communication or around it, tell a story. Attention (audience attention or speaker"s effort to gain audience attention) The diagram on the last page of notes involves attention. Enemy: any stimuli which competes with the speaker or the attention of the audience. Two different types- external stimuli (external from the audience) and internal stimuli (within the audience) both of these relate to the audience. External stimuli: stimuli produced by the speaker, stimuli which comes from the audience or the meeting place. External stimuli which is always present in the audience or in the meeting place- someone snoring near you, someone talking to someone else, someone near you smells bad, someone near you is coughing, seats around are squeaking. Internal stimuli: stimuli that exists in each individual member of the audience, has to do with your thoughts, fears, desires.
