ME 3320 Lecture Notes - Lecture 85: Solidworks, Scrollbar
Document Summary
When you create a new assembly configuration, you also have the option of automatically creating part configurations. Can make a simpler version of the assembly by using a simpler version of each of the components. For ex, a screw can be used in an assembly. In the part file it has threads, but having the threads in the assembly could slow it down, so will configuration in the part file without the threads. Want to see how this simpler configuration can be activated at the assembly level. Will add a configuration of the assembly where the simplified version will be created. Solidworks identifies assembly parts that each have a configuration called simple, and those will be automatically included in this new assembly. This is a good way to standardize, so that you and your colleagues can have simple and default configurations for each assembly. Design tables help you automate the process of creating multiple configurations.
