Document Summary

Question 27: talk about the bypass, the reaction is irreversible, but you also needed to say the other one is not irreversible. Proton flow is connected to entropy change. Adds a glucose by a udp glucose. Branching enzymes transfers a set of 7 from the end of the change to here. Breakdown enzymes are glycogen phosphorylase: uses a phosphate to cleave so you end up with a phosphorylated glucose as a product. If your body needs more glucose, it will send enzymes that will activate glycogen phosphorylase. Enzyme that takes the branches apart are debranching enzymes: glycogen phosphorylase will cut down until you have 4 on the branch, debranching enzyme will transfer last 3 to the end, hydrolysis to remove last glucose. Glycogen storage diseases: bad to store glycogen, massive enlargement of the liver. Take carbon dioxide from air and use energy from sunlight to convert co2 into glucose. Glucose co2 is highly exergonic pathway: captures free energy.
