This fear of the other: sexism, classism, gender based assumptions, class based assumptions, racism, xenophobia. These things are being revealed during the fight or towards the. Victorians and their own biases are being revealed to us. The sexism and the gendered thinking leads to some problems. They think that lucy can"t handle the pain and all the information that she"s going through. Information is helpful but lucy does not have it. She is protected from the information but it is harmful to her in the long run. Writes in her diary whenever she"s feeling well. She doesn"t see the connection between when she feels terrible and the bat sneaking in through the night. It"s only visible to readers and to vh. She"s hopeful when writing but goes down as we hear from others. When she does die, she restored her beauty in her death. All the accounts of these characters are second hand accounts.
