Audra Hampsch 3 November 2013 Synopsis: In January of 2008, a Kabul Serena hotel in Afghanistan—“an oasis of luxury in a war­ravaged  city,” and also temporary home to foreign journalist, diplomats, and the like—was attacked by  the Taliban with the use of bombs and guns. Seven people were killed, mostly security guards.  However, among the dead were Norwegian journalist and one U.S. citizen. One Taliban  spokesman stepped forward after the attack to take the blame. He announced that there had been  one suicide bomber and three gunmen who each escaped afterwards. A medic who arrived on the  scene afterwards reported two suicide bombers, one on the roof and the other in the courtyard, as  well
