Did not feel the need to expand further/explore. Dynasty no longer felt threat from rivals so stopped sending out voyages. Now worried about invasions of the north - did not want to explore anywhere beyond china. Overtaken americas and pulled in a ton of gold. But the spanish monarchy was completely broke. Globalization isn"t inevitable, china felt they were center of world and did not need to expand.
