Tet destroyed the presidency of lyndon johnson who didn"t want to wage war and instead it set up richard nixon"s presidency. In the wake of tet, the u. s. switches to (cid:498)vietnamization(cid:499) which essentially handed the north vietnamese the defeat america was over-extended so it was time to deescalate. The communists proved that no place in south vietnam was secure, including the u. s. embassy.
