Standard protocol for chest pain/angina complaints and mi: Oldcart: onset, location, duration, characteristics, aggravating factors, relieving factors, treatment. Can go up to x3 q 15 min, check bp before administering! Se: drops bp, ha, dizziness, lightheadedness, nausea. Se: bleeding, blurred vision, confusion, ha, red/black tarry stools. Clinical manifestations of chf (congestive heart failure) Left ventricular failure vs right ventricular failure: Left sided: back-up into lungs, pulmonary congestion, dyspnea, crackles, cough. Right sided: deoxygenated blood backed up in body; edema, hepatomegaly, ascited, jvd. Post-op ecg monitoring for failure to sense or capture after pacemaker insertion: Failure to sense: pacemaker does not recognize normal beats and discharges impulse inappropriately; gets rid of perfectly good heartbeats. Failure to capture: pacemaker fires (as evidenced by a pacer spike) but there is no response from atria or ventricle; Pr: 0. 12 0. 20 (less than 5 small boxes) Qrs: 0. 04 - . 12 (a little more than 1 smll box)
