Is there a relationship between facial symmetry and your overall health? (failure of replication) Something works in non-human animals , more symmetry, more immune. But maybe the immune system doesn"t matter that much because we have health care system now. Maybe adaptive in allowing more attention to survival of children altricial babies (cp . precocial adults don"t provide much caring) Females: eggs are limited, provide only so many kids (limited reproductive ability) Males: produce millions and millions of germs(high reproductive ability) Current aspects of mate bonding in humans appear to be predicted by evolutionary theory. Man tend to value indication of fertility (youth) Women tend to value power and earning capacity. Physical attractiveness predicts which women bond with men of high status. Mate attraction strategies: for women, physical attraction; for men, displaying power and resources. Men are more likely than women to commit adultery. Interestingly : women who think they are highly attractive prefer more symmetrical men.
