2) Cognitive Therapists -> thinking, way patient conceptualized problems!
3) Behaviorist Therapists -> behaving, using behavioral techniques, reinforcement!
!
in general, most of them make the same assumption!•
go to a therapist with 1 of 3 problems (thinking, behaving, feeling)!◦
many therapists identify themselves as eclectic -> they say they can give whatever a person •
needs!
!
!
All say the same things!
Psychoanalytic -> treat emotions, basic problem is emotion bound!
when they can remediate emotions, your behavior and thinking will follow suit!•
!
Cognitive -> change the way you're thinking, if we do, then feelings and behavior will change!
!
Behavior -> if you behave the right way, change thinking and feeling!
!
!
!

happens early in childhood!•
uncover what happened earlier!◦
resulting feelings you're left with !◦
!
Psychic Determinism -> early on, these changes take place which determine how we change
over time!
there is a cause for every symptom in adulthood!◦
!
discover the roots and the causes of our behavior!•
help you relieve them, early relationships with others which were the cause of this ◦
repression!
!
Strict Psychoanalysis -> therapist and patient create a relationship which is mean to mimic the
early relationship between the patient and their parent!
