Why we contrast mz and dz twins. Mz twins are more similar to one another on a particular trait than dz twins then we can suspect that a particular trait has some sort of genetic contribution. Does not mean that there is one smoking gene. There might be a collection to mediate a tendency to smoke (maybe your tendency to smoke is in part a reflection of your tendency to be addicted to substances) If you are more anxious/nervous person (smoking is related to arousal and stress) and helps to relieve them. Some people don"t smoke because their nose and throats are sensitive to them. Schizophrenia: very serious mental disorder (onset in the 20s, abnormal behavior, depression, anxiety, hallucinations and delusions, dz = . 13 (relatively low but above 0, mz = . 80 (sky rockets) All have a strong genetic component: treatable with medicine, borderline schizophrenia. Psychotic schizophrenia can be treated with drugs.
