Von rad: practical knowledge of the laws of life and the world based on experience - missing something because wisdom is not only practical knowledge and must be sought as well. Gotwald: goal of wisdom is to find strategies to connect existence with the purpose of life. Kugel: life has an underlying pattern or order but it is only partially visible, understand the pattern as much as possible and conform to it. Wisdom must teach child or son figure through familial and social settings. No commandments or covenant though similar rules are referenced. No torah, no promise to david, not the chosen people. Meant for learning, understanding, instigating wise action, righteousness, justice, equity, shrewdness, knowledge and prudence.
