Anthropologists believed that they were the stewards of the past, the passing of nagpra legally made changes to the field of arch but natives disagreed: nagpra and museum collections. Nagpra provides a legal process for tribes to request indigenous artifacts back from museums tribes can ask for human remains and material objects associated w these human remains back. Repatriation: tribes ask for culturally significant objects back from museums. Human remains, associated funerary objects; museums produce inventories; identify. Most likely descendants; or culturally unidentifiable; tribes can claim materials; Museums had to produce inventories and document all the human remains.
