Phenotypic plasticity isn"t always learning (environment, for instance) There is a good reason why animals learn, but also good reason why they don"t always learn something. It is a result of experience and change comes about it. Behavior that comes as a result of genetics is not learned. Experience allows you to learn and change your phenotype phenotypic plasticity. Tried to condition an association between wasp faces and shock. Learned to associate foot shock with the face that wasp. Face blindness- prosopagnosia (unable to recognize others face) This phenomenon is not completely known/understood fully, but we have evolved to be able to recognize faces. Patients who look at their mom and don"t recognize her face. Question of whether it is tied to memory or many other things.
