Anatomy is the study of body structure. We need to understand a&p so we know how the body works when it is healthy and when it is not. By understanding the normal functions of the body we are better able to recognize the abnormal. Medical terminology is a language using prefixes, suffixes, and word roots to create words relating to the body, health and diseases. The international anatomical terminology (terminologia anatomica or ta) is the standardized book for medical terminology. This book does not contain eponyms which are old names for body parts or diseases usually named after the discoverer or a famous victim. Cardiovascular: clinical anatomy: umbrella term for subspecialties in clinical practice. Pathological anatomy: anatomical features that change during illness. Radiographic anatomy: anatomical structures seen using specialized imaging techniques. Surgical anatomy: anatomical landmarks important in surgery: developmental anatomy: changed in form that take place between contraception and adulthood, embryology: study of early development processes.
