Society as a system (compare to organs in the body) A set of interrelated parts that have to operate together, and smoothly in order for the society to function effectively. Social integration: how these parts work together so that a society is effective. Social order: stability with all of the parts of society. She believes that there were critical parts of a society (institutions: five main institutions. Economy: these institutions have to be healthy and work together so that there is order in a society, equilibrium: balance in society is needed. Latent: less obvious, unintended consequences of a system part (institutions) This isn"t a definite chart, sometimes there is blurred lines between different parts of an institution. Socialization, education makes us knowledgeable, training for jobs (skills), allows economy to stay vibrant.
