Oedipal complex: a boy"s sexual desire for his mom and rivalry with dad, Electra complex: girls" psychosexual competition with mom for possession of her dad. Penis envy: girls develop feeling of inferiority+jealousy b/c they don"t have a penis. Resolved by growing up and having kids and will be completed by having a child. Castration anxiety: fear of damage or loss to one"s genitals by parent of the same sex for desiring parent of opposite sex. Object relationships with and attachments 2 ppl/things in general persisting from childhood into adult life. Regression: returning to a safer, earlier part of life. (ex. a wife crawling into her husband"s lap when she needs to be comforted is reminiscent of childhood).
