Lorber and kane: gender is an accomplishment and a social process (but the accomplishment is never finished) Lorber: gender is constantly created and recreated through social processes. It constructs status, divides labor, allocates scarce goods, assigns responsibilities, legitimizes leadership. Kane: parents are agents of gender socialization in complex ways.
