Document Summary
We reach a turning point of increased vulnerability. Idealistic people tend to look on the bright sight of things. Realism happens after adolescence (realizing how the world really is) Self-concept- set of beliefs about oneself including attributes, roles, goals, interests, values, political/religious beliefs. Self-efficacy- one"s belief that he/she can do something well. Self-esteem- how one feels about his/her self-concept and self-efficacy if you feel good about yourself and have a positive sense of self, you will most likely have high self-esteem. The process of developing a sense of identity involves experimenting with different ways of appearing, sounding, behaving. Society"s expectations of you because of your gender. Adolescents must develop relationship skills that allow them to get along well with others and make friends: The course of emotional development will be unique for each adolescent. Girls tend to have lower self-esteem than boys. Some girls may need help learning to express anger.
