Document Summary

Color blindness is a recessive gene on the x chromosome females can hide it but it will show up in a male. Men receive x from mom and y from dad. Most of the genes on 1 of the 2 x-chromosomes are inactivated. Inactivation is passed to daughter cells only effects somatic cells (not gametes) No 2 individuals are genetically identical (except identical twins) Small differences in nucleotide sequences of their dna. Dna profiling is an analysis of dna fragments. Amplify markers (make lots of copies if there is not much dna) Quickly results in billions of copies of a target sequence. Heat it up, polymerase copies it, and then you have 4 copies. Non coding no instructions to make a protein. We don"t know or care that they do anthing, we just care that they are there. The sequences are known as alleles so don"t get confused. Number of repeats varies (based on what you inherited alleles inherited)
