Nineteen women were executed in Salem

they ask they girls for names; other girls start acting
strange (these girls were between 9-19);
o Sarah Good-did not confess to witchcraft;
o Sarah Osborne-did not confess to witchcraft;
o Tituba-confessed as guilty and was executed; she was a
servant from in the Parris household; either West African
or Indian; was practicing fortune telling with the girls;
o Reverend George Burroughs-was brought from Maine to
be put on trial and executed for witchcraft
Trails lasted 9-10 months
154 people in jails
14 women and nine men executed for witchcraft
Puritans very much believed in good and evil in everyday life and signs
from God
Despite naming names, the strange behavior continued
