3 parts to communication (classical communication model: sending, receiving, responding. One person encodes a message, while the other decodes it. Feedback is the measurement of success of communication. 3 types of feedback: positive feedback: indication that the message was received and understood, negative feedback: indication that the message was not received/ understood, fake feedback: a person acts like they understand when they really don"t. Noise/interference: anything that gets in the way of communication (noise, emotions, people, temperature, love, semantic) Semantic: think you hear a different word than was said. 3 things essential to communication: speak the same language: not just spanish, english, etc. but also accents and uses of words (dialects, things in common/ similar experiences, willingness to communicate. Ways to fight stage fright: prepare yourself the best you can, move to use up adrenaline, look at the audience, stop thinking about yourself and think about the audience, psych yourself up.
