Using the methods of those who studied public speaking or oratory dating even back to the greeks and romans- we can master speeches throughout life. Adapting to listener feedback- through verbal, facial, and physical reactions. Public speaking requires a different method of delivery. Positive nervousness- channeling nerves to energize yourself. Nerves are not visible do not expect a perfect speech. Critical thinking- focused, organized thinking- the ability to see clearly the relationship among ideas. What the speaker presents to the audience. Means by which the message is communicated. Listener- one who receives the communicated message. Frame of reference- sum of a person (their experiences, goals, values, etc) Feedback-usually nonverbal message listener conveys to speaker.
