Competition: strong belief in us that competition=success, fear of failure, many people believe that us has to be (cid:498)first(cid:499) in everything, competition trickles down to schools (grading systems, tryouts for teams, cheerleading, etc, extends to popular culture, rocky. Consequences of competition: some people take advantage and look for extra ways to be more competitive, misleading advertising, plagiarism. Values emphasis: what(cid:495)ve you done for me lately, present & future are most valued, growth, (cid:498)bigger is better(cid:499) facility, if someone has this facility and its huge, we want to build a bigger, materialism, social conformity.
