Document Summary

Prevention and the population-based perspective: compare and contrast how medicine and public health frame the causes of mortality. During the 1990"s substantial lifestyle pattern changes may have led to variations in actual causes of death. Mortality rates from heart disease, stroke, and cancer have declined. At the same time, behavioral changes have led to an increased prevalence of obesity and diabetes. Smoking and deaths attributed to the constellation of poor diet and physical inactivity currently account for about one third of all deaths in the us. Constitutional laws puts limits on the authority of governments at every level in order to protect a sphere of freedom. Administrative law is concerned with the body of statutes and regulations that set health and safety standards, together with the powers of agencies to interpret and enforce those standards. Tort law provides a method of indirect regulation through the courts.
