Some of the problems like approach to environment are result of different positions and consequently interests. Many disputes are about means not ends not about the goal but how to achieve it. American high hand fashion behavior and unilateralism with me or against me attitude caused problems and a rift especially during the first term of bush 2003 iraq invasion. Most problems have been resolved in the past years, and even when there are tensions common interests always prevail in the end. His positions and statements during the campaign and even later have not been received well in europe and threatened close trans atlantic relationships built since wwii. Examples include: calling nato obsolete, positions against eu and support for brexit, against globalization, environment paris agreement, iran treaty, threats against north korea. U. s. is superpower and it is in the interests of most countries to keep good relationship. However long term consequence may seriously undermine american global position and power.
