Document Summary
Is our awareness of ourselves and our environments. This is our best guess as to where consciousness is in your brain. Big chunk of consciousness (maybe) this is our best guess. Ex: flocks of birds/schools of fish going around obstacles. This looks super complicated but only has to follow three simple rules. Without it your mind is like skin without pain receptors. You wouldn"t be able to make any decisions (what do i have for lunch?) Attention focusing your conscious awareness (includes cocktail party effect) This doesn"t mean the things you aren"t paying attention to aren"t important! A part of your brain is telling you what to pay attention to. Often tested by a dichotic listening task. Perception, memory, etc, that occurs without conscious attention. Ex: you can feel your fingers but you aren"t thinking about feeling your. Regular bodily rhythms that occur on a 24 hour cycle (including body temp)
