Less severe form of depression (may lead to mdd) Pet scan shows that brain energy consumption rises and falls with emotional. You oscillate between being depressed and super hyped/animated swings. When you are up make great plans = no sleep. Believe negative things about your life even though those thoughts aren"t true. Ex: believe they will flunk the upcoming test. Person is tense, apprehensive, and in a state of autonomic nervous system arousal. Persistent, irrational fear of a specific object or situation. Not that this is an anxiety disorder. Compulsion - behavior that you have to do - ex: turn lights off three times before. You keep thinking about your obsession and you freak out going to bed and get anxious and worry. Exposed to traumatic events they constantly relive this.
