Speech anxiety- (stage fright) is common and experiencing a little of it is okay. Researching will be easier, planning, and practicing will also be easier if you pick a topic you find interesting. Preparation ahead of time will make your speech more natural. Avoid too much sugar and caffeine (makes you talk faster and heightens anxiety) Visualizing success can help ease your anxiety (if you think you"ll do well you will!) Make your visualization as specific as possible. Brainstorming (list every idea that comes to mind without evaluating) Topic must meet the instructors criteria, which may include: topics to avoid, type of speech, or research requirements. Your topic should meet at least one of the following: it will be interesting to your audience, it benefits the audience, it will move the audience. Pick a topic a topic your excited and knowledgeable about. This establishes your credibility and streamlines research process.
