Rejected from coming into a white only restaurant: soviets used that against us. Many lawsuits: trying to get cases to go to the supreme court. Colored people internalized that separate is inherently unequal. If a bus is empty, then anyone can sit anywhere: but when a white person comes in, then the colors have to move to the back of the bus. Rosa parks refused to stand up: worked as an activist who thought of a strategy, smart activist. Montgomery bus boycott, 1955: run under contract under another company. None of the colors ride the bus: usually rely on the buses, used car share to go to work. Forced bus company to desegregate the buses. Schools closed by order of the federal government, 1958. Willing to push boundaries to get what you want.
