The research paper is about urban planning and devising a way of creating an almost natural
habitat in which bird species can thrive without being bothered by the human population. The
researchers recommend an increase in native plants to allow their native birds to survive in their
natural environment.
Identify the methods the author used to teach their conclusions
The authors reached their conclusions by conducting their study on their native bird population
and comparing the different plant life that allows these birds to adapt to the different types of
plant species.
What did you learn from the readings
The study used the Shannon-Wiener index to calculate the results; this is the first time I heard
about the Shannon-Wiener index which helps calculate the different types of species in an area.
Identify material you found new, challenging or had trouble understating were you able to work
through this or need further clarification
I would have thought that alien bird populations would have adapted to the native plant life
instead of relying on the alien plant life for resources.
