Christianity emerges during the mid-1st century c. e. and began to spread throughout. Roman empire from the teaching of jesus christ. Christianity became even bigger influence among the people in roman society. People began to convert from being polytheism of the ancient roman beliefs into christianity. The growth of this new religion was being viewed as baffling and troublesome to the roman emperors and many had attempted to eliminate christianity from the roman empire, such as emperor diocletian. Emperor diocletian suppressed christianity by expelled christians from official posts, seized their property, tore down churches, and executed anyone who refused to participate in official religious rituals which became an ultimately failed. After emperor diocletian stepped down in 305 c. e. and. Emperor constantine allowed the two religions to coexist within his empire. Polytheism and christianity were big influence within the empire. They were in serious competition for people"s faith where both regarded spirits and demons as powerful and ever- present forces in life.
