Document Summary

Hereditary ------- 1 set of 23 from each parent. A |-------|t chromosomes made of dna are composed of 4 bases. Different versions of genes are called, alleles . The genes one inherits are one"s genotype. The traits that they create are one"s phenotype. Genes have 3 functions: they tell ribosomes how to make proteins via messenger rna, they promote self-duplication by guiding hosts to survive and reproduce, they place roles in switching other genes on/off. When a person possesses 2 differing genes for the same trait, one tends to dominate. Dominant genes usually make proteins, recessives often fail. Example brown eyes are dominant and blue/ green eyes are recessive. If dad has brown eyes and mom has blue eyes, there is a higher. Chance that the offspring will have brown eyes. Gene a colorless base protein blue protein brown protein. Gene b enzyme q colorless base protein. Gene c enzyme r blue protein needs 1 parent to turn on/off.
