Muslims were very helpful to the mongols when they ruled china. Before that, many served as great generals in the mongol army. Muslims also served as civil administrators that served as mediators that helped the mongols rule china. Some muslims even worked as teachers who tutored mongolian princes so they would be more knowledgeable about the territories they were supposed to rule. The mongols trusted the muslims so much because they needed help ruling china, which had a population of over 120 million people. They could not rely on the chinese to help them because the mongols needed an unbiased/outside party to help them rule. The mongols previous relationship with the muslims and the fact that the mongols had no respect for the chinese made the muslims an obvious candidate. Sayyid ajall and ahmad were the two most prominent muslim figures in china. Sayyid ajall was a military leader and ahmad was an accountant.
