Hungary was a fascist nation that allied with germany. The jews had a survival rate in countries that allied with germany than if they were enemies of the germans. In italy, italy"s holocaust only happened because america conquered italy. The germans deported all of the italian jews. The germans did not invade hungary until 1944. In 1944, the germans invade hungary and deport 12,000 jews including eli wiesel who won the nobel prize in 1986. The yiddish version of his book has disappeared entirely. Raoul wallenberg was a swedish diplomat who was able to protect the jews in what was kno(cid:449)n as (cid:862)safe zones. (cid:863) he used false papers in order to hide the jews. Hungary were declared extra-territorial meaning they were swedish and neutral so wallenberg hid jews in these buildings. The soviets arrest wallenberg and send him to the gulags. Nobody knows how he died, he just disappeared.
