Document Summary
Social self: psychology of selfhood, areas that get psychologists into trouble with hard sciences: love and selfhood (2 things that make us uniquely human). We all posses multiple selves: material self- physical nature: hair, tattoos, clothes we choose to wear. The house you live in and the way you keep your house. How you physically present yourself to the world: spiritual self- your invisible self- who you are when no one else is around. Only show this self to a handful of people throughout your life. May/may not have anything to do with religiosity: social selves- somewhat visible/ somewhat invisible. We have a different social self for every person you know: we all have different selves for each social situation we are in. Take some blush and put it in front of a mirror. Babies about 6 months old think it"s another baby. however, at about 18 months old the baby will touch its own nose.
