Social science research cannot be value free. Developmental psych research in general should take into account. Research drives tx and out culture is inexorably intertwined with research. All govt must support and invest in education. 150 million children are denied these rights, are girls. Hard to draw conclusions about appropriate educaion. Evidence that formal education has far reaching effects. Religious schools tend to focus on values and not cognitive. Religious schooling vs. public schooling improvement around. Problems in schooling reflects existing societal problems not the other way. Schooling does not cause rural to urban migration. Economic and population problems within a society. Choosing a topic that is a developmental problem based on the assumption of some standard of adequacy. School readiness: childs activity level, social competence, psychological preparedness, cognitive abilities. Problem can be quantified universally and we can talk about it when it is adequate and inadequate. Index or measure of where the child stands.
