(ground your claims in the text) How does the play"s marriage plot enable prospero to route power through his daughter, Prospero displaces innocent miranda into a male-dominated civilization through a controlled marriage without consulting her opinion: miranda is forced to be dependent on her male companion, as she knows nothing about her new environment. She never knew anything besides this bondage: she is now freed to a world that she doesn"t understand, but her lack of opinion, knowledge, or say in the situation negates notions of bliss. (tragic tones) She has few lines in general and does not refute or question her father. Her lines tend to be shallow rather than notably influential, like the more dominant male characters.
