Document Summary
Chapter 10: planning, the strategies of public relations. Public relations plans: ad hoc plans. Ad hoc plans are temporary: standing plans. Can become traditions, whether they work or not. All public relations plans should be values-driven, meaning the plan should strive to fulfill some area of your organization"s values-based mission statement. Why do we plan: keeps our actions in line with our organization"s values-based mission. Planning helps to ensure that all actions are ethical and goal oriented: secures needed resources. Builds relationships with publics that have the resources an organization needs to achieve its goals: controls our destiny. Proactively manage issues rather than just react to them. Helps us to ensure that relationships with key publics are a source of strength, not of weakness: helps us to better understand and focus our research. Detailed plans for specific relationship building action. Do we have adequate resources to implement the action successfully: achieves consensus.
