People who live in areas which have been affected by high levels or radiation e. g. hiroshima and chernobyl, still show high incidences of cancer and other mutations in there offspring. Explain how understanding the source of variation in organisms has provided support for. Darwin"s theory requires variation to be present within an organism. The random segregation of chromosome pairs during meiosis. Crossing over of genetic material during meiosis. The phenotypes that are valuable for survival in the environment aid in the survival of that variation, and those who don"t possess this trait are eliminated survival of the fittest". Describe the concept of punctuated equilibrium in evolution and how it differs from the gradual process proposed by darwin.
