Socialization
The ways which individuals learn and recreate skills, knowledge, values, motives, and roles appropriate to
their position or group in society
o Appropriate = what is most common
o Position = your place in a hierarchy (ex: social class ladder)

George Herbert Mead (1863-1931): Role Taking
o ‘re-taig’: the ability to understand how others think and feel
allows for the anticipation of actions of others
