SAG 105L Lecture 20: SAG 105L4 LECTURE 20
Document Summary
There is no generic way of walking, but the basic mechanics will always be the same. A walk is probably one of the hardest things to animate. It requires a good understanding of anatomy, performance, and mechanical control. In terms of performance, the way people walk reveals their character and mood. In terms of a physical point of view, the weight, age, and gender make a walk different. There are an infinite number of walks. From a mechanical perspective, there are fundamental basics that must be understood. The whole body will stretch, lean, and twist as it attempts to rebalance itself after every step. When trying to animate a walk, do the walk yourself and pay attention to your body movements and posture. How many frames a walk will take up depends on the mood, the weight of the person, and the type of walk.
