Virtues are correlated to the model of: parts of the soul, parts (groups) in the city. Wisdom is the virtue of: the intellect- rules rest of soul, the guardians- rule the city, and of philosophers = lovers of wisdom , wisdom is important. Virtue is a capacity of character +goodness: knowledge- figure out what it is, how is it related to goodness. Knowledge: comes in different types, levels- in hierarchy. Objects: each level of knowledge has its own object, each object known through a certain kind of object. Images: natural realm- reflection, shadows, etc, human realm- representation, imitation. Gossip, chatter, idle, curiosity: dependent on something else, fleeting, insubstantial. Imagination: focused on recognizing likeness in the imitation, prone to distortion, exaggeration, error, emotion & desire as or more important as intellect.
